Software and Services
Software and Services Overview
Traditional software applications are threatened by the rapid growth in internet-centric services. These threats come from both Web 2.0 applications and Software as a Service (Saas), comprised of two segments - Hosted Application Management and Software on Demand. Often times these internet applications include the formation of self-organizing online communities that collaboratively produce and manage content through distributive computing networks and virtual “live” interactions. Many of these emerging internet-centric platforms now serve as substitutes for client operating systems and eliminate an applications’ dependence on client operating systems.
Both software and service companies are challenged to compete in this high-growth internet-centric environment.
